Οι ‘’ΔΙΑΛΟΓΟΙ’’ αποτελούν μια θεματική εκδήλωση, η οποία δημιουργεί έναν χώρο επικοινωνίας και συζήτησης. Στόχος της είναι να φιλοξενεί στη LUZ VISUAL STUDIES έναν φωτογράφο, δημοσιογράφο ή συγγραφέα ο οποίος θα έχει την ευκαιρία να  παρουσιάσει το έργο του και να ανταλλάξει απόψεις  με το κοινό.

Tην Κυριακή 21 Σεπτεμβρίου στις 19:00, θα φιλοξενήσουμε μια κοινή συζήτηση με την ποιήτρια και συγγραφέα Adrianne Kalfopoulou και τον
δημοσιογράφο Patrick Strickland. Η Adrianne Kalfopoulou θα παρουσιάσει το νέο της βιβλίο, The re in refuge (Red Hen Press, 2025), ενώ ο Patrick Strickland θα συζητήσει για το δικό του βιβλίο You Can Kill Each Other After I Leave: Refugees, Fascism, and Bloodshed in Greece  (Melville House, 2025).

Η συζήτηση θα επικεντρωθεί σε ζητήματα που αφορούν τη συγγραφή και τη δημοσιογραφία γύρω από τα σύνορα, τον εθνικισμό και την εξορία, σε μια εποχή όξυνσης του φασισμού και συνεχιζόμενης γενοκτονίας. Οι παρευρισκόμενοι θα έχουν την ευκαιρία να θέσουν ερωτήσεις ή να σχολιάσουν.

Η Adrianne Kalfopoulou είναι συγγραφέας, δοκιμιογράφος και ποιήτρια. Έχει εκδώσει τρεις ποιητικές συλλογές και τρία πεζά έργα, ανάμεσά τους το On the Gaze: Dubai and its New Cosmopolitanisms. Το Kirkus Reviews περιγράφει τη νέα της συλλογή δοκιμίων, The re in refuge (Red Hen Press, 2025), ως «μια συγκινητική και βαθιά επίκαιρη εξέταση των ασφαλών τόπων της κοινωνίας».

Ο Patrick Strickland είναι συγγραφέας και δημοσιογράφος από το Τέξας και διευθυντής σύνταξης του Inkstick Media. Είναι συγγραφέας τριών
βιβλίων και μιας επερχόμενης συλλογής διηγημάτων με τίτλο A History of Heartache (Άνοιξη 2026). Ρεπορτάζ του έχουν δημοσιευθεί στο New York Review of Books, The Guardian, TIME, Politico EU και αλλού. Το New Internationalist χαρακτηρίζει το πιο πρόσφατο βιβλίο του, You Can Kill Each Other After I Leave: Refugees, Fascism, and Bloodshed in Greece (Melville House, 2025), ως «μια αυστηρή προειδοποίηση για τη βία που απελευθερώνεται όταν ο φασισμός εισβάλει στους διαδρόμους της εξουσίας».

Η είσοδος στην εκδήλωση είναι δωρεάν και θα πραγματοποιηθεί στην αγγλική γλώσσα. Οι συγγραφείς θα έχουν έναν περιορισμένο αριθμό
αντιτύπων των βιβλίων τους για όποιον επιθυμεί να αγοράσει. Όλα τα έσοδα θα διατεθούν στον οργανισμό Defense for Children International – Palestine, έναν παλαιστινιακό οργανισμό ανθρωπίνων δικαιωμάτων που εστιάζει στα δικαιώματα των παιδιών στην Παλαιστίνη.

DIALOGUES is an event series that creates a space for communication and discussion. Its aim is to host a photographer, journalist, or writer at LUZ VISUAL STUDIES, who will have the opportunity to present their work and exchange views with the audience.

At 19:00 on Sunday, Sept. 21, we will host a joint discussion with the poet and author Adrianne Kalfopoulou and journalist Patrick Strickland.
Kalfopoulou will present her latest book, The re in refuge (Red Hen Press, 2025), while Strickland will discuss his book You Can Kill Each Other After I Leave: Refugees, Fascism, and Bloodshed in Greece (Melville House, 2025).

The discussion will center on issues surrounding writing and reporting on borders, nationalism, and exile in an age of deepening fascism and
ongoing genocide. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions or offer comments.

Adrianne Kalfopoulou is a writer, essayist, and poet. She is the author of three poetry collections and three books of prose, including On the Gaze: Dubai and its New Cosmopolitanisms. Kirkus Reviews describes her latest essay collection, The re in refuge (Red Hen Press, 2025) as “a poignant and profoundly relevant examination of society’s safe places.”

Patrick Strickland is a writer and journalist from Texas and the managing editor of Inkstick Media. He is the author of three nonfiction books and a forthcoming short story collection, A History of Heartache (Spring 2026). His reportage has appeared at the New York Review of Books, The Guardian, TIME, Politico EU, and elsewhere. The New Internationalist describes his latest book, You Can Kill EachOther After I Leave: Refugees, Fascism, and Bloodshed in Greece (Melville House 2025), as “a stark warning of the violence unleashed when fascism enters the halls of power.” Entry to the event is free of charge. The authors will have a limited number of books on hand for anyone who is interested in purchasing a copy. All proceeds will be donated to Defense for Children International – Palestine, a Palestinian human rights organization
focused on the rights of Palestinian children.
